Representatives from Frankfort Toyota and the Toyota Christian Fellowship (TCF) group held their first annual “Backpacks for Kids” event Aug. 6. Frankfort Toyota purchased 250 backpacks that were distributed to foster children from Franklin, Scott and Woodford counties. Members of TCF at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) helped pack them with school supplies and the children and families came by the dealership to pick up the backpacks.
“This is about the kids,” said Eric Clark, Frankfort Toyota’s managing partner. “We are very pleased to be able to provide this to the foster children in Franklin, Scott and Woodford counties”
Tim Turner of the Kentucky TCF said his group’s goal was in large part to raise awareness that there are 8,000 foster kids and only 3,500 foster parents in the state of Kentucky.
