Nissan Foundation grant supports civil rights training for Nashville law enforcement agencies

The Nissan Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to the Nashville Public Library Foundation (NPLF) to support expansion of the Nashville Public Library’s (NPL) unique civil rights training partnership with law enforcement agencies, including the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD).

The NPL’s “Civil Rights and a Civil Society: Civil Rights Training for Nashville Enforcement Agencies and Beyond” originated as a partnership between NPL and MNPD in 2015 for new officer trainees and has since expanded to include other entities, such as school groups.
